Who are Heritage Expeditions?
Founded in 1984 by New Zealand wildlife biologist Rodney Russ and still family-owned, Heritage Expeditions is a Christchurch-based small-ship operator built on the idea that conservation and responsible travel go hand in hand. Their two purpose-built vessels — the 140-guest Heritage Adventurer and 18-guest yacht Heritage Explorer — reach places larger ships can’t: Antarctica’s Ross Sea, the Subantarctic Islands, Japan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomons, Vanuatu, the Kimberley coast, Fiordland and Stewart Island. Every voyage is led by naturalists, ornithologists and historians who bring each landing to life.
